Scrum meetings

For a considerable number of weeks now, almost every morning in the bBox project starts with an already famous question of our Team Leader, Stan: 'Soooo... scrum meeting? :)' (Also, Scrum Master, in this context. )

Scrum is an iterative methodology for project management often seen in software development, although the Scrum approach was originally suggested for managing product development projects. So, Stan, adjusted the concept to the bBox’s needs and smartly plays the role of the Scrum Master, leading the sessions, which, for your record, don’t always last the 15 minutes timeboxed for. :)

In our case, it is a very useful method for my colleagues to monitor the bBox Project. Stan, Nair and Xi, who have focused intensively on shaping the bBox concepts, are responsible for transferring all the relevant information such as new features or drastic change to the team of programmers.

So, the Team's answer each morning? 'Yes!', 'Sure', 'Of course!' :) And then they gather!

Purpose?
Well, as in any scrum meeting specific to the software development projects, in bBox, there would happen two important things:

    a. on one hand, it is very important that the Product Owner (Stan, Nair and also Xi Huang play this role) keeps the team of programmers up to date about the latest changes regarding the concepts we have developed (e.g.: next to do's, explanations about new features). Thus, most often, Stan and Nair would ask questions such as: 'Can we do that?' Is 'just' this 'tiny thing/feature' possible to implement?' :) ).

     b. on the other hand, I can always sense our geeks curiosity doubled by 'fear' for 'what next/ what other changes...'  and at the same time, after clarifying them, answering to the new challenges: 'For sure!/Everything is possible!, BUT... (and but here always stands for time related issues. In any case we will manage!).'

Benefits?
The greatest part is that it all brings with it the 'daily scrum', so that The Team members(Delyana, Pipe, Paulo and Aldo) are aware of their current work status and progress. This way, whenever they encounter a similar problem one of them had in the recent past, they know whom to run to.

Current status and feelings?
Still enthusiastic bBox ‘players’, eager to work and cross the finish line of the Product Backlog successfully, as winners, in April, 2011!

                                            Keep an eye on us,

                                                  Claudia
